Overseas - Visitor

Modified on Wed, 20 Nov at 12:14 PM

Thank you for your enquiry about how an Overseas Visitor can be entered into a Club Competition in Australia.

Overseas Handicap Number
As there is no shared world-wide handicap database, the Club will be unable to look up the Players current handicap or process their Scores via Golf Link to their Overseas Club & Playing History using an Overseas Handicap Number.

A copy of their recent Playing History or proof of Handicap will need to be provided by the Player to the Club being played at.

Participation
The Player can still participate in an Event as the World Handicapping System (WHS), allows for the Club to use the Players Overseas Handicap (they will need to provide this to you) as their equivalent to a GA Handicap.

It is however at the discretion of the Club as to whether they will allow an Overseas Handicap into the Competition.

Clubs using Tier 3 Golf Management Software should contact their Tier 3 Providers Support Desk to get information and assistance with the process of entering an Overseas Player into an Event.

Daily Handicap
The Overseas Players Daily Handicap is calculated using their Overseas Handicap to replace the GA Handicap in the standard calculations.

If required use a Daily Handicap Calculator to establish this.

Generic Overseas Club
Golf Link has a generic Club called Overseas Golf Club that all Clubs use to allow Overseas Scores and Players to be managed.
Overseas Golf Club ID: 89999

Obtaining Golf Link Number
Should the Player be in Australia for a length of time and wish to hold an active Golf Link number, they will need to join a Golf Australia affiliated Club, please let us know if this is the case and we can send further information to explain that process.

Handicapping
Scores for Overseas Players will be excluded from upload to Golf Link for handicapping.

Players can be given their Scorecards after their Scores have been returned if they wish to have them added to their actual Overseas Handicap record, the Player returns the Cards to their Overseas Club for processing.
