Thank you for your enquiry about transferring an Overseas handicap to Golf Australia.
Overseas Handicap Number
As there is no shared world-wide handicap database, the Club will be unable to transfer the Players current handicap via Golf Link from their Overseas Club & import the Playing History using an Overseas Handicap Number.
Obtain Golf Link Number
Overseas players requesting a GA handicap will need to be uploaded to Golf Link as a Player who has not previously held a Golf Link handicap.
Once they have a Golf Link record they can be issued a GA Handicap.
Issuing a GA Handicap
Once the new Member is created the Club need to enter the Players last 20 rounds as per their Overseas Handicap History as Ad hoc Scores.
The changes made for World Handicap System mean that handicaps are calculated in the same way across most of the world and therefore an Overseas handicap can be utilised to issue a similar GA handicap.
When completed this should ensure the Player is issued a GA Handicap commensurate with their previous Overseas Handicap.
Overseas Playing History
The Player will need to contact their Overseas Club (or Golf Link equivalent) to obtain the Playing History list, it is not something that can be provided by Golf Link / GA.
Review Handicap
If the Club deem the handicap is not reflecting the Players ability, the Club can make an Official Handicap adjustment via their Golf Software to adjust the handicap up or down.
Entering Ad Hoc Scores
Ad hoc Scores are entered via the Clubs Golf Software following the standard process for entering Ad hoc Scores.
Overseas Golf Club
Golf Link has a generic Club called Overseas Golf Club that all Clubs use to allow Overseas Scores to be submitted.
Overseas Golf Club ID: 8999
The submitted Score will not specify the Name of the actual Club played at.
